Assessments, Reports, and other thoughts...

I consider myself fortunate to receive a consistent flow of inquiries. I recognise that I may not always be the ideal match for every client, and I’m more than willing to direct them to someone who is. What truly matters to me is that they receive the right service and are satisfied with the results; there's no 'hard sell.'

EHCP and IDP OT Reports

Recently, I've received several queries related to EHCPs, which stands for Education, Health and Care Plan, used in England. These documents are akin to Individual Development Plans (IDPs) in Wales and are legal documents which bind local authorities to action.

This surge in interest may stem from the concerns sparked by the SEND white paper titled "Every Child Achieving and Thriving," released on February 23, 2026. While I understand that this information may have motivated many to take action, my reporting style differs from the particularly prescriptive format these documents use, while, of course, remaining clinically valid.

Doing it differently

Let me clarify, I genuinely enjoy going out to meet extraordinary young individuals, bringing a sense of hope along with my beanbag, ball, and balancing beam as I help them navigate their challenges and gain insight into their experiences.

My aim is to communicate this understanding in a way that resonates with others; however, a rigid 60-page report isn’t the most effective use of my time. I believe I can provide better support to children, families, and adults in my own unique, visual, and authentic manner.
