My Qualifications & Experience

 

I achieved a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree,  first class, with Honours in Occupational Therapy in 2019 from Glyndwr University. I then completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Occupational Therapy, with commendation, in 2022 at Ulster University and, more recently, a Postgraduate Certificate in Sensory Integration at Sheffield Hallam University, with distinction, in 2024. Prior to this, I graduated from the University of Liverpool with an (LLB) Honours degree in Law in 2006. 

 

 I began working as an independent occupational therapist covering the  North West and North Wales in 2021. Before this, I worked within the NHS as an adult  Community Mental Health occupational therapist, working with adults to foster independence,  improve engagement in meaningful occupation and identify barriers to this. I was later employed as a  Co-Clinical Lead for occupational therapy in tier four inpatient Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services,  working with children and young people with complex and enduring mental health conditions. â€‹I have been part of multi-disciplinary teams at Axia ASD Ltd assessing and diagnosing Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), also referred to as Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Dyspraxia, also referred to as Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

 

I am trained to administer the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition (ADOS-2) and the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R). I have completed the UKAAN ADHD Assessment and Diagnosis course, Diagnosing ADHD in children using the ADHD Child Evaluation (ACE), Diagnosing ADHD in Female Adults using the ACE+ Clinical Interview course, studied Differential Diagnosis, and completed Dyspraxia UK training in Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD)/Dyspraxia assessment and diagnosis.

I have additional training in the areas of Women and Girls on the Autism Spectrum, Autism and Mental Health, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in OT, Coaching and Autism, ADHD and Neurodivergent Youth. I have also studied Adverse Childhood Experiences and completed training at Beacon House for professionals on Developmental Trauma.

I am a registered Sensory Integration practitioner with experience in identifying sensory processing differences, gained through both my prior employment and postgraduate training.   I have also completed numerous short courses, including Understanding Sensory Processing and Integration in Teenagers and Young Adults, Understanding Sensory Processing and Integration in Adults with Learning Disabilities, Introduction to Sensory Integration Difficulties (for Schools) and the administration of various sensory assessment tools.

I have spoken at award-winning post-diagnostic support groups, the Neurodiversity show in Liverpool.

My writing has been featured in industry magazines. My workbooks are available on Amazon.
